Christmas is the time of year when we come together, sit around the tree, exchange gifts and gorge on Christmas cookies. Christmas is also the time of year when we count our blessings and pray for miracles. Amidst the endless presents, countless cookies and blizzard of 2010, I can say my Christmas miracle is Jessica. I’ve posted about her before, and I wanted to share with you her progress. Please read her story here.
With the Holiday season in full swing, I thought I would share a few of my favorite things...
Topping the list this year is the Nikon Coolpix S8100. I absolutely LOVE taking pictures...and who wouldn't want to take pictures with this adorable little camera?! *Cough* Christmas Gift *Cough*
I LOVE my Michele watch and I LOVE Orange, so when I spotted this new band I had to add it to the list. After seeing these NARS polishes online, I can't help but want to add them to my growing collection.
I was concerned when T played her big “eff you” Kanye song at this year’s VMA’s. I was worried that her entire album would be a Waahhh (snookie inspired obvi) playlist. I was getting a little tired of the wounded act.
Check out her new song, “Back To December”. It’s the first time she apologizes to a boy…cough*Taylor Lautner*cough…
"Do you mind if I got get a 5 hour energy...don't judge me, I love that shit" -BL out on Friday night. She's definitely one of my fav. people in the world
"I was mad at dad because it was Christmas Eve, I was stuck in a maze with no presents and he went to bed"- My mom in reference to her dream from this weekend
"S.O.S...Bro spotted at Tiernangtjuriedoclvkjghytruoepwsd..S.O.S"- KMC...the Bro from last weekend was spotted at the bar...awkward, let's hope he doesn't ask for his fleece back
...and the title is in reference to another one of my mothers amazing dreams this weekend.
I've met plenty of bro's in my time. LI is filled with Woodstick Classics, fierce sailing rivalries and enough douchey behavior to shock even the most experienced bro-spotter. However, if you want to find a bro in their natural element, CT is where you need to be.
My encounter with this "Bro-tastic"( his words, not mine) male was Saturday night. He wore a backwards baseball hat, half-zip fleece and boat shoes. His hair peaked out from behind his ears, and by the looks of it, was permanentlywind blow from all the time he must spend sailing or flying down the ski-slopes. This bro was quite special. Let's call him J.
J appeared a min after last call. Perfect timing bro! We're already drunk, so you've saved yourself some money by not having to buy us drinks.
J introduces himself, says something "bro-mantic" and manages to find his way into our cab. J is attractive in a waspy way. We later find out he's from CT and has a second home in MA. He played Lax in HS, has two siblings and works for his dad's company where he buys energy. How Bro-fessional!
Ladies, if you find yourself amongst a bro, savor the moment. Don't question his vocabulary, choice of branded t-shirt or his desire to drink cheap beer. It's way more enjoyable to make fun of him...chances are, he's too self-involved to realize you're doing it.
1. Rooftop Yoga at work- Check out the view! I'm not a huge lover of yoga, but when you do it 16 stories above New York City, it's kinda wonderful. Check out the lovely KS and JF. Namaste.
2. Happy Birthday by Deborah Lippmann- It makes me happy!!
3. Cardigans---DUH!
4. "Strip Me" by Natasha Bedingfield- Every time I hear Ms. Bedingfield I picture myself cruising down the street in a black convertible like Lauren Conrad. This song makes me feel giddy, empowered and sassy. LOVE IT
5. FALL TELEVISION- I plan on doing a post all about this, but for now, I'll leave you with a list of premiere dates...
9/13- Gossip Girl and 90210 9/20- Chuck 9/21- GLEE 9/22- Criminal Minds 9/23- Community, My Generation (NEW), Greys Anatomy and Private Practice
Yesterday was my cousin Michelle's wedding and I just wanted to share a picture of the bride and groom with everyone. Isn't she just the most beautiful bride you've ever seen?
It's been a busy few days away from blogging. Since then, I've rediscovered my love of iChat's video function and chatted with TKH twice in one day. I've eaten enough zucchini and sugar free pudding to last me a lifetime and I've experienced the true meaning of drunk brunch.
I'm sitting in my bed, streaming Katy Perry's new album on Facebook, watching Food Network and perusing J.Crew.com for Fall Clothing. The weather is dreary and I'm cuddled up in my blanket LOVING my life. The only thing I'm missing is my dog and a cup of cocoa. The chilly weather has me thinking of Fall and all deliciousness that is sweaters, boots and tights.
I mentioned yesterday that I start South Beach today. In honor of my 2 weeks of NO carbs and NO sugar, I've decided to post 2 of my favorite "SB" friendly recipes! Fake-out Frozen Yogurt 1 cup of 0% Greek Yogurt ( I like Fage) 1 packet of Splenda A few dabs of Vanilla Extract 1 Dash of Cinnamon 8 Almonds
Directions: Mix everything together and put in the freezer for 10-15 min. It won't be totally frozen, but the already creamy yogurt gets even thicker when chilled. SOOOO good.
Roasted Asparagus and Havarti Cheese Omelette 4-5 stalks of Roasted Asparagus 2 Eggs Splash of Skim Milk 1 Piece of Havarti Cheese Salt Pepper Butter
Directions: It's an omelette...it's not that hard to make, but I love the combination of Havarti and Asparagus. Roasting Asparagus is super easy. All you need is a pyrex, asparagus, olive oil and salt and pepper. I usually roast them at 400 til they are getting dark and the tops look crispy.
My cousin is getting married in exactly 20 days. I can't believe it!! Today I started using Crest White Strips and tomorrow begins my experiment with South Beach...
That means, NO Sugar and NO carbs for 2 weeks. YIKES!!!
It's going to be tough, but I know I can do it. Wish me luck!
OH....and does anyone have any hairstyle suggestions? Maybe something half-up?
Today is the first day I've taken off since I started work. It's been great so far. I spent the morning on the roof and then had lunch at Gramercy Tavern.
Everyone loves a good makeover story. The tale of a "plain jane", transformed by the magical powers of MAC cosmetics, a good blow-out and a new wardrobe. Overnight she's gotten 10x hotter, lost about 15 pounds and is now Prom Queen. Unfortunately my High School experience didn't end like "She's All That", and I didn't gracefully trip down my parents steps into the arms of the quarterback. With that being said, i'm convinced it will happen...eventually. When it does, my internal soundtrack will play in slow motion, the wind will blow my hair back, and the perfect guy will realize that I'm the perfect girl.
Until then, I have my movies, books and the occasional TV show.
...oh, and I'll always have Taylor Swift and her new song "Mine".
1. Quotes- It's no secret that I absolutely adore quotes. I love reading them, posting them and finding new ones to fall in love with. Check out Hollies Quotes, it's one of my favorites.
2. Summer Sales- I definitely took advantage of the J.Crew Sale I posted a few days ago and on my way home from work I stumbled across a 50% off sale at Theory in SOHO. Having no self control, AC and I stopped in..and each left with a dress.
3. Cooking- OK, I always love to cook so technically this shouldn't be on the list. With that being said, I am loving Summer inspired recipes! Like this pasta I made last night courtesy of Giada. I substitute the Fregola with Orzo because let's be honest, has anyone ever seen Fregola at Stop and Shop?
4. Twitter- I wasn't to sure about this "Tweeting" trend, but it's definitely grown on me. I think I owe it to my coworkers EF and KS...tweeting is so much more fun when you have someone to @mention.
5. My coworkers- I never thought I'd love them all so much. I always thought I felt connected at my old job, but was I wrong! Work is so much more fun when you have people you enjoy seeing everyday. The snack cart, ledge chats, TV recaps and Wednesday night spinning are all just part of why I love working with them so much...to be hones, I don't know what I'd do without 'em.
Every summer my friends all get together and participate in a very fabulous NYC tradition.
Let me break it down...
3 courses for $35. AMAZING!
For everyone watching their budget, this is the perfect opportunity to try out those swanky restaurants you wouldn't have dreamed at splurging at before. This year, we will be hitting up Butter (3rd summer in a row) and tonight we will be kicking it all off with a reservation at Park Avenue Summer.
I would definitely suggest trying out Restaurant Week if you can!!
I've been in the new apartment (aka my sublet with AC) for 1 week. I LOVE IT. I'm going to be really sad to say goodbye to it in 2 months.
So far this week I've accomplished a lot. Let's discuss...
I survived the heatwave. It's been about 100+ degrees in NYC and thank goodness it's finally cooled off. There were times when I contemplated not showering, since by the time I arrived at work, I was drenched in my own sweat...gross.
I got a haircut. It had been 7 months since my last visit with Antoine...tragic.
I attended a GMA Summer Concert in Central Park with some of my favorite coworkers AC, JF and BG. The concert was AMAZING. Maybe it was sunshine, the front row VIP section (thanks to my old coworkers) or because we all looked so stunning in the drizzle, but Lee acknowledged our presence. It could have also been the fact that BG was screaming for him to wish AC a happy birthday (which he did...twice). I've said it before, and I'll say it again...Lee DeWyze= The Perfect Man.
and last but not least...
I headed back to Long Island for my cousin MV's Wine Tour Bachelorette party. Let me just say, I feel like the Khloe Kardashian of the group. At 5'6, I tower over the other girls...Check me out in the photos...I'm slouching in all of them. I love my cousin Michelle and I CANNOT wait to see her get married in August.
The Bridal Party at the first Vineyard. L-R SL, MV, JV, ME!! and KK
Summer weekends are always jam packed. In approximately 50+ hours you need to cram in everything you didn’t have time to accomplish during the course of the week. Last weekend was another one of my stellar cram sessions. Friday night sushi with KR, mini-playdate with my favorite 8 year old (check out the munchin below) and on Saturday went to Stamford to see TKH and KMC. Saturday went off without a hitch until around 4 a.m…stop reading now if you have no interest in hearing about why this was my NIGHTMARE…or, if you’re under the age of 18.
I'll set the stage...it’s 4 a.m. and I have to pee. I start to move from the aerobed that TKH and I are sleeping on in the basement of KMC’s house, when I hear two people hardcore hooking up outside of the door…like screaming. It was repulsive. If someone could relay this message back to Norm (yes that was his name…and I’m calling him out on this blog). I’d like you to let him know that he’s gross and he's an embarassment to himself. GET A ROOM NORM----GET A ROOM.
Wedged on the sink, on top of the bottles of Powerade from Costco and up against the bedroom door is NO place to be hooking up with some chick you picked up in a bar. Since you were...
a) too drunk to find her a way home
b) to drunk to remember her name
c) a guest in someone elses house
I’m positive you should never be invited back!
SIDENOTE:
This weekend is extra exciting because not only is it July 4th BUT… I’m moving. Finally, after commuting for what seemed like an eternity, I’ll be turning in my monthly ticket and getting myself a Park Ave. address (I’m not joking…). I’m subletting for the month of July and August with the fantastic AC. Fingers crossed by September I’ll have a permanent address!
The Essie Summer 2010 collection has stolen my heart. I've retired "Lilacism" and "Greenport" and this shade has taken up residency on my fingers. Described as a "heart pounding red orange", Vermillionaire is my new fav shade.
1. I love sales. Sample, blowout, private, friends and family...all of them. Whenever I'm in the mood to pick up something a little edgy/different I head over to Intermix. My most recent purchase was a Torn by Ronny Kobooversized tee. The fact that it was on sale was an added bonus!
2. Pretty Little Liars- ABC Family has once again done it again. "A new kind of family", is their motto...it should be more like, "A slutty kind of family". The first episode starts off with a bang. Students hooking up with teachers, mom's hooking up with cops, a missing friend, a missing friend who turns out to be a dead friend and Chad Lowe playing the cheating father of one of those "Pretty Little Liars" or PLL as the lovely JF has dubbed it. Get ready ladies...this summer is going to be scandelous.
3. Soul Cycle- I'll be the first to admit that I would much prefer to eat a pizza and watch re-runs of Criminal Minds then go to the gym. BUT I think spinning has changed all of that. If you have the $32 plus $5 for shoe rentals and water, DO IT. Sure, you might not be able to sit down properly, cross your legs or easily run up and down stairs for a few days, but it's totally worth it. *Shoes are included in your first class
4. These Oliver Peoples "Racine" glasses. I don't own contacts so I'm either somewhat blind or wearing my glasses. I happen to like wearing glasses, and since I'm always looking to add to the collection, I thought these would be a welcome addition to the plastic accessory party. PLUS they are def GEEK chic.
5. Grooveshark -No explanation needed. Just check it out.
My life is on overdrive and I think my body has finally given up! I've been struggling with a cold since last Tuesday's Glee finale. My friends can all attest to my super attractive breath right strip and sinusey voice combo. Despite my desire to be a recklass 22 year old, I spent the weekend in bed. Like the fabulous KR it was a weekend of movies, meds and motherly bonding. I'm super sad to have missed RJ's housewarming in BK last night, BUT sleeping a total of 13 hours was necessary. Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! XO
“Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in a love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the mornings, what you will do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.”
Many of you know where I interned my senior year of college. It was an amazing experience and one that I will never forget. In the spring of 2009, I went into the morning meeting just like I did every day. I sat down next to a petite brunette that I had never met before. She looked extremely familiar, but I just couldn’t place her. The meeting began and my boss started off by introducing the woman sitting next to me as Rachel McAdams---YES---Mean Girls, Notebook, Sherlock Holmes, Rachel McAdams. She was sitting in our meeting to research a new role…
If you've ready any of my last few posts you can tell that I'm definitely a Lee fan. Maybe its his piercing blue eyes or his awkward shyness. It could also be the fact that I find him to be the most adorable and charming mid-westerner since...well I can't really go into that, but LEE...LEE was fantastic.
So glad he won...now if I could only get his phone number...
This weekend was my cousin's Bridal Shower. Her wedding is at the end of August and I’m really excited about it. We grew up 3 houses away from each other, and have always been extremely close. Here is my favorite photo of the Bride and her Bridesmaids!
-WTF is up with Spencer Pratt and his crazy healing crystals. I'm pretty sure Heidi and Spencer are one step away from putting on their black NIKE's, zipping up the sleeping bags and drinking the Kool-Aid. Someone needs to have an intervention Dr. Drew style A.S.A.P. It's official. They've lost it.
-Kelly Cutrone is my new hero. I've read her book (highly recommend it), and I've watched her show. Nothing-and I mean NOTHING compare to her ripping Olivia Palermo to pieces on TV or telling Whit that she needs to take a Parisian lover because, "its the easiest way to learn the language" and because, "they're a great bang"...this is reason #542 why I love Kell.
-GLEE. While NPH is fantastical, nothing compares to Brittany's one-liners (which were missed this week) or the sexual tension between Finn and Rach. The lack of plot is really getting to me. While I love this show, I'm getting concerned that they're investing WAY to much time in guest stars and not enough time in the actual characters. I want more Mercedes and Kurt, it's true, they "make culture". If there isn't a phenom duet between Lea and Idina next week I'm so over this show...
It's been 364 days since I graduated from Fairfield. It was a cloudy, windy, misty Sunday as we all sleepily made our way to Bellarmine. I wore spandex and flip flops and spent the rest of the day laughing, sobbing or doing both at the same time.
A lot's happened since graduation. I've changed jobs 4 times, celebrated my 22nd birthday, was on national TV, and spent one exhausting/ fantastic weekend in October reliving college at Alumni weekend.
I've gotten rid of my little red jeep Lucy, moved back home to live with Paula and Ray and spent countless hours watching CSI re-runs during my stint as a member of the unemployed. I've hugged MK and Ashley Olsen and watched Kelly Clarkson from backstage in the pouring rain. I've gallivanted at the Cape, in Boston and all over New York City. I even went of my very first business trip.
I've made new friends and lost touch with old ones. I've spent countless hours laughing, texting, bbming and emailing "paradise", "trifecta", and everyone else in my phone book. I've been kissed by a stranger on the subway, gone on a few dates---none of which have worked out, but i'm not discouraged. It's our year TKH and KMC!
I've read approximately 30+ books, broken 3 cell phones, cooked 7 baked bries, hosted 2 Holiday parties and attended 31 birthdays. I've gone on 2 family vacations, countless happy hours and have begun the process of looking for my very first apartment. It's all been fantastic.
I started blogging as a way to keep in touch with people from college. I graduated a year ago this weekend and as I sit in bed sniffling with another cold, I'm feeling nostalgic. In honor of that weekend, I'm gonna go put on my cap and my tassle and flip through my pictures. It's been a crazy year with too many things to include in this blog. Good luck to the new graduates. The first year won't be easy, but it's SO worth it.
I'm sitting with Paula and Ray (my 'rents) watching American Idol. I've become addicted because of my coworkers. I don't have much of an interest in this show...until Lee comes on the TV. I'm disturbingly obsessed with his sessyness. He's perfect. Here's why... 1. His big blue eyes 2. His voice 3. His ability to wear flannel and not look like a lumberjack or homeless man 4. The fact that he's totally unaware of how hottttt he is
GLEE is on right after AI...everyone knows I'm a massive Gleek and I was definitely impressed by tonight's episode. The show has barely any plot and the only reason I stick around each week is because of the amazing songs, incredible vocals, sheer hotness of Finn, Puck and Wheels (I think I just find his glasses adorkable), and the genius that IS Brittany.
However...
Tonight's episode had a lot of heart. Maybe it was the paralyzed kid, the fact that Rachel lost her voice or the fact that Puck finally got rid of the moronic mohawk, but there was something totally fantastic about tonights episode in a completely different way. It wasn't all about the songs. Good job Ryan Murphy...good job!
It's been awhile since I sat down to write in the blog. I can blame it on a lot of things...the new job being one of them, but At the end of The Day, I only have myself to blame. I've been distracted to say the least...
I fell off the blogging wagon. Blogging and I were taking a "break" from each other...we needed some time apart. After a brief hiatus (I only blogged twice in the month of April...super pathetic), I've come back to reignite our flame.
Without doing a play-by-play of what the hell I've been up to these past few weeks, I thought I'd share some one of my finer moments. Last weekend I traveled up to Boston for work. The trip went fabulous except for the cab ride from hell. Let me explain...
Despite being a New Yorker, I have nothing against Boston. In fact, some of my best friends live there (TKH...CM).
HOWEVER...
When it comes to public transportation, Boston should be ashamed of themselves. Getting a cab was like trying to get a date to prom. After numerous failed attempts, I was finally able to secure one. Now, I use the term cab loosely...to be quite honest, the "cab" was essentially a 1997 red town car with CAB haphazardly painted on the side. At this point I was desperate...I had errands to run for work and I realized very quickly, I was no longer in Kansas...or New York for that matter and that "beggars can't be choosers". I was getting in this cab whether I liked it or not.
Kamol, driver of the "death cab" assured me that he knows where I need to go. I have 4 stops and I show him the address asking if he is familiar with the area. He promises me that he will have me back in less than an hour.
Kamol was a LIAR.
Without spending 20+ years on this story, I'll sum up my ride with Kamol in a few sentences...
Kamol took me god knows where, drove on the sidewalk, almost hit a pedestrian, yelled at me twice for "not having faith in his internal GPS", asked me to google map where we were from my Blackberry AND asked me for my phone number.
Almost 2 hours after I began the death ride, I text TKH panicked that I was about to end up on the next episode of Nancy Grace. By the grace of god, TKH is that same Whole Foods...I make up some excuse to Kamol, throw $100+ dollars at him and run out of the car into TKH's.
She once again saves the day. The event went off without a hitch and I'm still alive...which is always a plus in my book.
I then headed down to Fairfield...
However, that story will have to wait til tomorrow.
For now, I'll leave you with a few of my new fav songs.
I have a major fear of flying. For some reason, I'm always convinced I'm going to die...this proves to be a major issue because all of the really cool places I want to visit are a plane ride away. I can't swim to Paris, or bike to Cali or even canoe myself back to Italy...I need a plane for those things. So clearly I became panicked when I found out my new (and totally fabulous job) was flying me to Chicago for a day.
Thursday morning came and I boarded the plane with my fabulous coworker Adam (he is wonderful) and in 2hrs I was landing on O'Hare. To be completely honest I had ZERO expectations for Chicago. I'm from NY...in my opinion, every other city is setting themselves up to fail if they think I am going to love them as much as NY.
With that being said...Chicago amazed me. I FELL in LOVE with it. My office had an incredible view of Lake Michigan (which is crazy big) and I went to visit this...
For the first time, I felt like a grown-up. I can't say enough nice things about my co-workers---all of them are amazing and I just have this feeling that things are finally going to fall in place for me.
Last Wednesday was the start of Bloomingdales friends and family sale and this weekendPaula (my mom) and I spent some time at the department store armed with only our wallets and our water bottles. I mentioned in a post a few days ago that I started a new job a few weeks ago, and since beginning that job I have started the process of making my J.Crew filled, collegiate inspired wardrobe into something a little more professional. While my work dress code is every girls dream---"Tastefully Casual", I'm finding it really hard to tread the line between, "Sexy and confident PR maven" and "The girl that owns too many Jackie Cardigans".
So I decided with my discount to purchase a few items. This is by far my favorite.
Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I'm off to Chicago for my very first business trip this week and I've never been there. CAN'T WAIT!!!
Last night I met the most fantastical person ever...6'1, Rihanna inspired Mohawk, lip ring, blingblinged out, fierce tranny of a waiter. He was sheer perfection. He was successful in getting K, M, J and I pretty sloshed and the $3 margs were flowing almost as frequently as the "hey BOO's" from Mr. Fabulous. If I could have brought him home in my pocket---I would have. I think we even asked him if we could have him included on our check. When it came time for us to leave we received kisses and hugs from our new "bf"...all in all---pretty fantastic night.
Maybe I will relax this weekend...I have my first business trip next week!!! EEEKK stay tuned for all the fabulous details!
My morning started off a little rougher than most. I couldn't figure out what to wear (the "tastefully casual" dresscode is harder than you think), my hair straightner is broken and the only thing that got me through the train this morning was playing "Don't Rain on My Parade", the GLEE version on repeat. I personally can't wait for April so that I can have my beloved show back. The winter was a lot less fantastical since GLEE was on hiatus.
Life Observation of the Day: I think "Asian Couple" on the train broke up... If they can't make it---who can!!
Between the break-up of Jesse and Sandra (devestated!!---cheating bastard), Sam Mendes and Kate Winslet (I really thought those two were for real), and the demise of my fav asian commuting couple...I've lost all faith in love.
Hopefully all of you had a better morning, but in case you didn't, I'll leave you with a little GLEE...
The sun has decided to show up again and I can’t tell you how happy that makes me…literally. Whenever the rain starTs falling I want to crawl into the fetal position and do nothing. Getting out of bed is WAY more difficult and working is damn near impossible.
Yesterday I posted about my new job and so this morning I thought I would share with everyone what my new desk...and by desk, I mean ledge...and view look like.
Here is my ledge…I’m still in the process of making it look like home and I've actually grown to love it.
Here is my view… I can’t complain!! I love NYC in the Spring!!!
We can all thank my blackberry for the "stunning" quality!
So it's been awhile since I last blogged. I attribute it to the fact that I started a new job last week...YES, I am finally legitimately employed. I get health insurance, paid vacation and a few sick days. BIG leap from the place I worked before...Thank god. The only thing I miss about that job are my coworkers and the celebs.
I don't have to many life updates for all of you...with the exception of being extremely busy; this weekend I spent some time in Brooklyn. I felt extremely inadequate, totally not hip and yet extremely accepted by everyone. Never have I seen more babies in a bar, hipsters walking infants in $1500 bugaboo strollers and PBR cans than I can count.
It was definitely something I would do again.
Within the realm of all things dating (or lack there of), I received ANOTHER text from the guy I met on a train...I'm not sure I told this story, but without writing a telenovela...here's the story.
A a few months ago a guy sat next to me on the train. I went to college with him, we have met around 15 times, hung out at the same parties and I know his ex-gf...yet he proceeded to ask for my number, not realize we were already facebook friends, and text and bbm me until I think he got the hint that I was NOT interested in hearing about his "dreams" from the night before (I clearly attract the weirdos).Anyway, he texted me last week...clearly not getting that I wasn't interested the first 14 times he tried. I ignored.
WHERE ARE THE NORMAL BOYS??
Currently listening to my new anthem...
Painting my nails and eating a grapefruit. Here is to being random and loving every minute of it!
I hate to admit it, but I would much rather watch the red carpet than the actual Oscars. However, I couldn't help but tune in last night to see who took home the Academy Award especially in the Leading Actress category. I would be lying if I told you that I actually thought Sandra Bullock was going to win (while I wanted her to win)...my money was on the DIVINE Meryl Streep.
BUT when Sandy took the stage she delivered the BEST speech of the night. I was crying....sobbing actually and when all was said and done---she deserved it.
In honor of reaching 50 followers, I have decided to do a little giveaway. It's nothing big, but I wanted to thank all of you for stopping by to check out the blog.
Many of you may know how much I LOVE nail polish. So... I decided that for my first giveaway I will be sending you my two new favorite Essie polishes!
Here they are... I became obsessed with this color a few weeks ago. It's called Chinchilly and its absolutely adorable. It resembles a color that Chanel is doing. It's a perfect Light Gray/Taupe color.
This is the color I posted about a few weeks ago. I actually had it on my nails when I worked with Lauren Conrad and she really liked it. It's a fun color for spring and looks great with short nails and perfect on toes!
The rules of the giveaway are simple. Post a comment that you want to be entered and I will pick the winner by March 5th!
Tell alllllll your friends and let them know about the giveaway. If this goes well I have some fun ideas for bigger ones!
"I learned there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead, others come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready, you see. Now my troubles are going to have trouble with me." - Dr. Seuss
Sometimes I find myself feeling nostalgic for college. I’m reminded of 3am dance parties, cumby’s runs, Bitch Wine, RHONY marathons and visits to La Grapa. But there comes a time when we need to move on from college and grow up. Take the next step and move towards a future free of cheap beer, fighting for a cab and awkward Sunday mornings in the caf.
There also comes a time, when reliving these memories becomes necessary…
Saturday was one of those times.
Ask anyone and they will tell you that I rarely go out. I’m more comfortable in smaller groups…where my awkwardness can be fully appreciated, but I really missed people and with a little nudging from CM and the gang, I made my way to the party.
Saturday was the birthday of a fellow FU graduate that essentially became a, “OMG, what have you been doing since graduation...are you employed?...they’re STILL dating...PULL yourself together, type of night.”
So in honor of Saturday I would like to play count by numbers...

After sharing a delish meal with RJ, KR and JB last night at Waterzooi in GC we decided to order dessert. After contemplating what to get for about .5 seconds I ordered the Waffle with Strawberries.
This is what came to the table...
AMAZING!
Warm and crispy on the outside, light and buttery on the inside. Topped with Fresh whipped cream and sweet strawberries...total perfection.
If you are ever in GC, you have to visit Waterzooi!
Once the photos are up from the second part of my Saturday I will do a little post. It was a college reunion of sorts.
I swear it's really cute on and when I wear it tomorrow, I will take pics and post them.
Hope you are all having a great Friday...Happy Weekend!
UPDATE: THE JUMPER FELL APART AT THE BAR!!!! I will post pics because it was super cute as soon as CM uploads them, but I will be returning to Intermix today to complain. I am sooooo upset. All of the buttons started coming off!!!
"LOVE... We think about it, sing about it, dream about it, lose sleep worrying about it. When we don't have it, we search for it; when we discover it, we don't know what to do with it; when we have it, we fear losing it. It is the constant source of pleasure and pain. But we can't predict which it will be from one moment to the next. It is a short word, easy to spell, difficult to define, impossible to live without. "
Here is the thing…my life used to be somewhat amusing. I had fun stories about encounters with homeless men, tumbling down subway steps and the occasional awkward High School run-in.
HOWEVER, my life has gotten WAY less interesting these past few weeks. Sure, I went on a blind date…terrifying...of course. I met a boy at a bar who insisted I meet him at the nearest Taco Bell so we could hook up and I even danced with tranny (this is debatable, but I like to think it was a tranny) at a bar in the city. While this was all fun, I am still waiting for it. MY BIG AHA moment as Oprah calls them.
My freelance gig is currently up and for the past week, I’ve been sitting at home watching re-runs of CSI and searching for jobs instead of hanging with MK and A. It’s a definite downgrade in my mind, but I’ve had the time to try spinning and experiment with some new hairstyles…I’ve learned I resemble Ke$ha when I don’t blow dry my hair.
While my life has turned into a pathetic example of what happens when you don’t pick a practical major in college (I have a degree in English), I’m still somewhat happy. UNTIL, I turn on my television and see commercials for Valentines Day. To quote my mother, “One of these days you're going to need to get yourself a real Valentine...one who isn't your father”.
So…if you would like to be my Valentine...I would love that.
A few months ago I posted about one of my favorite artists. Her name is Pixie Lott and she has a new single. I'm loving "Gravity" and I thought I would share it with you!
ML and I hit up the gym this morning for a class...spinning is by far the hardest workout I have done in a LONG time. I'm not sure how walking up and down the stairs is going to go tomorrow considering I am already sore. The music was fantastic and the instructor was so motivational.
I kindaaaaa loved it. If I can move tomorrow, I might go back and do it again.
